| Breaking News | | Sunday, May 7th, 2034: Jefferson Belts 3 HR Against Anaheim Three home runs in a game doesn't happen often.
When it does it is something special to celebrate.
And Bob Jefferson of Albuquerque can celebrate it.
He is now a member of the select group of players, who have hit three home runs in a single game. He powered three into the stands today at Butterball Field against the Anaheim Hustlers.
In all he was 3-4 as the Turkeys toppled Anaheim 12-1, knocking in 5 runs and scoring 3 times.
Jefferson told reporters after the game, "It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run. Most of the time you fail, if you really try to hit one. But today I tried on the last one."
His manager added, "He is blessed with a natural home run swing. He gets the ball up in the air."
B. Jefferson hit a two-run home run off J. Unknown in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off M. McPherson in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off M. McPherson in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, was hit by a pitch in the 7th and walked in the 8th.
So far this year in 29 games Jefferson is hitting .286 with 5 home runs, 16 RBIs and 18 runs scored. | | Saturday, April 29th, 2034: 15-K Game for River Hounds Molina Miami River Hounds starting pitcher António Molina brought his best stuff to the game against the Anaheim Hustlers today at River Hounds Ballpark, striking out 15 batters in his club's 9-2 victory. In a strong performance, the 20-year-old Molina gave up 4 hits in his 8.2 innings of work and issued 2 walks.
"I felt good out there," he commented after the game. "My fastball had a lot of life and my off-speed stuff was sharp. That combination was giving hitters fits and working well for me."
So far in the 2034 campaign Molina has delivered no saves. In no relief appearances he has 46 strikeouts in 36.1 innings with a 5.45 ERA and 2 wins and 3 losses. | | Monday, April 24th, 2034: Mota, Unknown Suspended for Fracas The action was hot and heavy at a recent Colorado Springs-Anaheim game at Diamond Hawks Ballpark in more ways than one. When tempers flared, both benches emptied and a mild melee ensued. The only thing hurt was a few players' pride. Two of the main figures in the brawl were suspended today by league officials. The Diamond Hawks Ronaldo Mota and Anaheim's Joe Unknown will each miss 9 games for their roles in the fight.
"We do not condone this kind of behavior on the field," the league announcement read. "As such, we feel that this punishment fits the actions taken by these two players. We hope that there will not be a repeat of the incident or else the consequences will be even more severe."
This season-to-date Mota has no home runs and a .180 batting average.
