| Breaking News | | Wednesday, September 28th, 2033: Chikumbu Collects Cycle Farri Chikumbu of the Brooklyn Cyclones touched all the bases today at Ebbets Field in the 11-6 victory over New York (N), hitting for the cycle. He teed off on Mets pitching for a single, double, triple and a home run. The feat is rare in baseball as it requires a game of no fewer than four hits and the unusual combination of a home run, which requires a batter to hit for some power -- and a triple, which requires a batter to have both speed on the basepaths -- and a favorable fall of the ball.
"The hardest part was the triple," confessed Chikumbu, "A lot has to go right for you to get a triple. It is real easy to get greedy trying to stretch a double and get thrown out. It's really hard to get a three-bagger." He finished his special day with 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 3 runs batted in, 3 runs scored and a place in the record book.
F. Chikumbu doubled in the 2nd, tripled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off C. Córdova in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and walked in the 8th.
Chikumbu is currently batting .310 with 9 home runs and 49 RBIs. | _Mets.png) | Monday, September 26th, 2033: Coleman Hits in 20 Straight Games Win, lose or draw -- Willie Coleman just keeps on getting base hits -- game after game after game. He has now stretched his hitting streak to 20 games. The New York (N) Mets center fielder picked up 2 hits in 5 at-bats today, but it wasn't enough to win the game. His club was defeated 8-6 by the Brooklyn Cyclones at Shea Stadium. W. Coleman singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th and grounded out in the 9th.
For 2033 Coleman is hitting .368 with 8 home runs. His stats include 63 RBIs and 100 runs scored. | | Wednesday, September 14th, 2033: Cyclones Johnson Gone for Year The season is apparently over for Martin Johnson. The Brooklyn Cyclones medical staff informed the club that the catcher will be out at least 5 weeks with a strained hamstring muscle. Johnson was hurt in the game against New York (N) while running the bases. The doctors did not think he would recover prior to the end of the season.
Hitting .441 to date, Johnson has 1 home run and 8 RBIs. He has played in 9 games. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 60-102, .370 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 31.0 GB | | Record at home | 34-47, .420 PCT | | Record on the road | 26-55, .321 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 5-8, .385 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 19-20, .487 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 12-18, .400 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 48-84, .364 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 7-3, .700 PCT | | Record in April | 10-14, .417 PCT | | Record in May | 11-17, .393 PCT | | Record in June | 10-17, .370 PCT | | Record in July | 9-17, .346 PCT | | Record in August | 5-23, .179 PCT | | Record in September | 14-13, .519 PCT | | Record in October | 1-1, .500 PCT |
