Padres second baseman Philip Hansen went 4-for-5 and reached the 2000-hit milestone yesterday, but San Diego still lost the game 7-6 to the San Francisco Giants.
Hansen has hit for a .314 career average and totaled 2001 hits, 125 home runs and 741 RBIs.

Today the Pirates downed the Padres 13-7 as Lenard Marco sprayed hits all over PNC Park in a 5-hit explosion, finishing with 5 hits in 6 at-bats.
The Pittsburgh right fielder said to reporters in the postgame interview, "It makes it easier if you get a good pitch. The odds are in your favor then, not the pitcher's. I got a bunch of very pretty pitches to hit today, and I didn't miss any of them."
L. Marco singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off G. Dumais in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
Presently Marco is batting .294 and has collected 27 home runs, 94 RBIs, .330 OBP and scored 83 runs.

 | Tuesday, August 30th, 2033: Kun Hits in 20 Straight Games
Hsin-ta Kun collected 1 hit in today's game and extended his hitting streak to 20 games. His club, the Atlanta Braves, beat San Diego 3-2.
After the ballgame, Kun quipped to a BNN reporter, "Right now, when they throw me the ball, it looks the size of a softball. I'm pretty excited how things are clicking."
H. Kun grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th and flied out in the 7th.
Kun currently has a .346 batting average with 112 hits, 12 homers, 55 RBIs, 50 runs scored and a .388 OBP.
