In the 13-3 victory Kelton Daley penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single day efforts.
What a display it was -- three home runs, 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 7 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
It certainly was a day for the league record books.
"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," the Chicago (N) manager said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so good."
Talking about his theory of hitting after the game, Daley said, "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off... the right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases... or trot around the bases... like I did today."
So says the latest person to hit three homers in a game.
K. Daley struck out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off J. Lizotte in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off M. Silverman in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off M. Stamp in the 6th and walked in the 8th.
On the season, Daley is batting .243 with 33 home runs and 89 RBIs. He has played in 143 games. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | LF Marcos Hernández | torn back muscle | 1-2 weeks | On DL, eligible for return (60-day DL) | | RF Sergio Aragón | torn rib cage muscle | 2 weeks | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 55-107, .340 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 49.0 GB | | Record at home | 31-50, .383 PCT | | Record on the road | 24-57, .296 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 5-6, .455 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 20-22, .476 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 13-28, .317 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 42-79, .347 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 0-10, .000 PCT | | Record in April | 9-15, .375 PCT | | Record in May | 9-20, .310 PCT | | Record in June | 8-19, .296 PCT | | Record in July | 10-16, .385 PCT | | Record in August | 12-16, .429 PCT | | Record in September | 7-19, .269 PCT | | Record in October | 0-2, .000 PCT |
