Saint Petersburg Energy starting pitcher Júlio Hernández brought his best stuff to the game against the Plano Icebergs today at Energy Ballpark, striking out 15 batters in his club's 7-0 victory. In a strong performance, the 20-year-old Hernández gave up 1 hit in his 7 innings of work and issued 2 walks.
"I felt good out there," he commented after the game. "My fastball had a lot of life and my off-speed stuff was sharp. That combination was giving hitters fits and working well for me."
This season Hernández has a 8-1 record with a 1.66 ERA in 10 starts.

There's something about a young rookie winning the Sub League 2 Pitcher of the Month trophy that sends shock waves through the league. Such is the case with Júlio Hernández, a 20-year-old starter for the Saint Petersburg Energy.
In August, he topped off the month with a 5-0 mark and 1.67 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 43 innings, fanned 51 and held opposing teams to a .209 average.
This year Hernández has registered 7 wins and 1 loss in 9 starts with a 1.84 ERA while registering 69 strikeouts and 15 walks in 63.2 innings.

| Thursday, August 25th, 2033: Destroyers Shut out by Santos
All went well for José Santos of the Saint Petersburg Energy as he pitched his team to a 1-0 shutout victory over the Baton Rouge Destroyers, limiting them to 4 hits while ringing up 9 strikeouts and surrendering 1 walk.
In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Santos.
His manager described him this way: "He's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy. He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."
The Baton Rouge skipper said, "He doesn't give you anything twice. It's a guessing game with him and today my club was always guessing wrong."
This season Santos has compiled a 5-0 record with a 1.47 ERA in 8 starts.
