When John Knox stepped up to the plate in September, he did it with confidence and today he was honored with the American Batter of the Month award.
The young Seattle third baseman posted a .345 batting average with 7 home runs, 25 RBIs and scored 20 runs. Knox also worked pitchers for 14 walks to post a .433 on-base percentage.
Knox is presently hitting at a .303 pace with 32 home runs, 114 RBIs and has scored 120 times.

Vicente Zamarripa of the Cleveland Indians really did a job on the Mariners today at Jacobs Field, shutting them out 7-0. Zamarripa frustrated Seattle hitters throughout the game, surrendering 2 hits. He struck out 2 and walked 3 in picking up the victory.
Checking out his stats for the year, Zamarripa has racked up 8 wins and 8 losses in 25 starts, 4.37 ERA and struck out 110 batters in 164.2 innings.

From the moment it happened, it was clear that John Schoonover's injury was serious. In today's contest against Toronto the Mariners catcher suffered a torn back muscle while running the bases.
Schoonover was carted off the field in a stretcher. The initial diagnosis was bad and the follow-up assessment at the hospital was even more grim: Schoonover's career is over.
In 2033 Schoonover is hitting .158, batted in 40 runs with 8 home runs and 41 runs scored.
